Hydrogeochemical Characteristics, Water Quality, and Human Health Risks of Groundwater in Wulian, North China

Groundwater shortage and pollution are critical issues of global concern. In Wulian County, a typical hilly area, groundwater is the main source water supply. This study investigates current situation in City through analysis chemistry characteristics, quality evaluation, health risk evaluation. After controlling factors chemical components ion sources, sources were determined. The results showed that major cations Ca2+ Na+ anions HCO3− SO42−. Nevertheless, NO3− exceeded standard to different degrees pore (PW), fissure (FPW), (FW). minimum concentration FW. Under influence rock weathering salt dissolution, hydrochemical types HCO3-Ca, HCO3-Ca·Mg, SO4·Cl-Ca·Mg types. According evaluation assessment, FW area south had highest quality, where Class I appeared potable was more widely distributed. PW FPW areas north lower with higher risks. Category V gradually which not suitable as supply source. Factor ratio strongly affected by anthropogenic factors. These research methods have important reference value status.
